Las Fuentes Resort Village – Stay Sharp Stay Independent

The vibrant community of Las Fuentes Resort Village in Prescott, Arizona, recently hosted “Stay Sharp Stay Independent,” a hands-on workshop designed to promote independence through cognitive fitness and daily training (CFDT). Presented by Jen Beyst, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Cognitive Function Development Institute, and sponsored by Synergy Wellness Center, the event welcomed residents and local guests eager to explore practical strategies for maintaining mental acuity and confidence in everyday life.

Hands-On Approach to Cognitive Wellness

Rather than a traditional lecture, the workshop emphasized active participation. Attendees engaged in a series of interactive exercises aimed at strengthening memory, attention, and problem-solving skills. By practicing targeted drills in small groups, participants experienced firsthand how routine mental workouts can become both enjoyable and effective.

Core Elements of CFDT

  • Memory Enhancement Drills: Simple word-recall and pattern-recognition activities
  • Attention Training: Focused tasks designed to reduce mental distractions
  • Problem-Solving Challenges: Group puzzles that foster collaboration and creative thinking
  • Daily Habit Integration: Tips for weaving brain-healthy habits into morning routines

Synergy’s Commitment to Community Health

As the sponsoring organization, Synergy Wellness Center underscores the importance of proactive wellness initiatives. By partnering with Las Fuentes Resort Village, Synergy aims to broaden access to evidence-based programs that support healthy aging. The company provided all necessary materials—workbooks, exercise guides, and take-home tools—to ensure participants could continue their CFDT journey long after the workshop ended.

Empowering Independent Living

Independence extends far beyond physical mobility. Cognitive agility plays a central role in everyday tasks such as managing finances, navigating social engagements, and staying safe at home. Through “Stay Sharp Stay Independent,” attendees gained practical skills to:

  • Maintain mental sharpness with brief, daily exercises
  • Build confidence in decision-making and self-care
  • Connect with neighbors over shared learning experiences

Looking Ahead: Sustaining Sharpness

Participants left the workshop equipped with structured CFDT plans and a sense of camaraderie. Las Fuentes Resort Village plans to host follow-up sessions and drop-in practice groups to help residents stay motivated. With Synergy’s backing, this initiative marks the beginning of an ongoing commitment to fostering mental wellness and preserving independence across the Northern Arizona community.
